Chicago apartment backdrop for new Chris Ware work

The ACME Novelty Library #16This Saturday the Chris Ware exhibit opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Ware, a comic artist and graphic novelist (often referred to as an “alternative cartoonist”) is best known for his ACME Novelty Library and created the first serial comic to appear in The New York Times Magazine. The exhibit features work that Ware completed when he first moved to Chicago in the 1990s and work from his recent series, set in a Chicago apartment building. Of course, we’re almost as excited about the setting of his new work as we are by the work itself.
