Construction checkup: Elysian's mansard roof

Last month, we reported the 60-story Elysian Hotel and Private Residences at 11 E Walton Pl in River North had officially topped off, but two large cranes are still mounted atop the building, as work on the building continues.

Recently, we’ve noticed what looks like a steel support structure for the tower’s mansard roof taking shape. It’s impossible to tell from the rendering, which I pulled from architect Lucian Lagrange’s Web site, but the shade of green on the roof looks similar to patinated copper.

According to Bridget Quinlan, The Elysian’s public relations director, external and structural construction on Elysian should wrap this spring. Elysian’s 51 condos are priced from $2.8 million to $4.9 million, and its 188 hotel condos are priced from the $600s to the $950s.
