Da Bears cause a slowdown in the South Loop real estate market

urlacher.jpgRubloff Residential Properties agent, Judy Howard, tells us that the company doesn’t bother hosting open houses in the South Loop when the Chicago Bears are playing a Sunday home game at nearby Soldier Field because nobody would show up anyway.

Howard says that potential buyers are either too busy watching the game or would be deterred from coming to an open house because of the game-day traffic. Howard suspects Da Bears’ mostly strong performance this season is further slowing buyer traffic.

We knew that the real estate world was generally quiet from November until after the Super Bowl, but we didn’t realize the Bears had such a big impact on buyer activity. Howard says Rubloff still holds Sunday open houses when Da Bears are playing away from home.
