Kenilworth kids have the great good fortune to be able to walk to two of the best public schools in the nation — Joseph Sears (PreK-8) and New Trier High School.
My son Jordan played in the great bands at New Trier and he and I stopped for a chat with Patrick Dawson, the Director of Bands at Sears School.
Dawson oversees a 5-year long band program at Sears, working with 4th through 8th graders — and he seemed to know every passing kid by name.
