Terrapin's Toy Town in the West Loop

Construction is well underway at Terrapin Properties’ 901 Madison, the company’s third mid-rise in the West Loop. The project is about 55 percent sold. Terrapin has already built 909 Washington (about three units remain for sale) and the sold-out 1001 W Madison. We can’t say that we are thrilled about the look of these mid-rises, but at least they harmonize somewhat with the lofty aesthetic of the West Loop in terms of scale and density. All three of Terrapin’s mid-rises are located just a couple of blocks from each other, so the company is sort of building its own little Toy Town. We hear that Terrapin wants to build a 26-story high-rise in the neighborhood but we haven’t been able to confirm it. No doubt the company will be in for an uphill battle with residents, who fiercely guard against high-rises.
