There's no hotter place than Metro on Melrose

Yo’s always thought that Lake View (and Lincoln Park, for that matter) was full of Heather Locklear-lookalikes, so it makes sense that a condo conversion called Metro on Melrose, 519 W Melrose Ave, would sell faster than you can say “cat-fight.” After only four weeks on the market, 42 of the 60 units at MoM have been sold. Not bad, considering developer REM Homes is offering pricey little studios and one-bedrooms, fetching anywhere from the $250s to the $280s, plus an extra $27,500 for uncovered parking.
We rang the marketing agent, At Properties, and it turns out that we’re not the only ones having flashbacks to some of Melrose’s finest moments – remember when a bald Kimberley went psycho and bombed the bejesus out of complex?
But the developer is offering all kinds of hipster upgrades like surround sound, iPod stations and plasma TVs.
At Properties agent Santiago Moreno tells Yo that many of the buyers are too young to remember the good old days of Melrose, but the selling agents aren’t. “We keep calling it Melrose Place in sales meetings, then correct ourselves,” Moreno says.
