Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds

Glashaus

We’ve had two readers ask us for a Glashaus update over the past two weeks, and while I can’t get the project’s sales team to answer my calls, I was able to get a few new snapshots of the building’s construction site at 1327 S Wabash Ave on Tuesday. Lo and behold, the place looked even less active than it did in April. That building has to go up in a hurry to meet those spring ’09 deliveries.

GlashausThe folks from @properties have told us a couple times that foundation work was complete on Piedmont Group‘s 25-story building, and reader Luke suggested last month that true construction won’t begin until this fall. Maybe everyone’s taking a breather during these hot summer days and gearing up for a big push in a couple of months. We’ll see.

The Brininstool & Lynch-designed South Loop tower will comprise 262 one- to three-bedroom units when (or if) completed. Those units were selling from the $230s to $1.1 million at last check. Plans also call for 25,000 square feet of retail space, a private park with grass and trees, a fitness center, a private cinema, and 24-hour door staff.

And remember: If you’re interested in Glashaus’ two-bedrooms, you might have time to take advantage of that Hawaiian time-share deal.
